SSDA 2019
Every year the British Constructional Steelwork Association hosts the Structural Steel Design Awards. The awards celebrate the UK excellence of the steel construction industry, with particular reference to cost effectiveness, aesthetics, efficiency, innovation and sustainability.
In 2018 the winners were:
- Bloomberg London
- Jaguar Land Rover Engine Manufacturing Centre
- Knostrop Weir Foot and Cycle Bridge, Leeds
- London Bridge Station
- The Ordsall Chord Viaduct
- V&A’s Exhibition Road Quarter, London
All of which are amazing projects!
Have you thought about entering the 2019 awards? If so, you might want to get started now as the entry deadline is towards the end of February (Friday 22 February 2019).

If you’re an artist, consultant engineer, constructor, fabricator or architect… If you’ve completed an amazing project involving hot dip galvanizing… If you’re after one of the industry famous Galvanizers Association watering can awards… Then now is the time to think about submitting your entry for the 2019 GAGAs.
The Galvanizers Association is accepting entries for projects (completed after 1 January 2016) which fit into the following categories:
- Galvanizing in Architecture
- Galvanizing in Engineering
- Galvanizing in Detail
- Sustainability Award
- Duplex Award
The deadline for entries is 29 March 2019.

UK Construction Week 2018 starts next week – 9-11 October. Join us at the event!

We’re excited to announce that the Structural Steel Design Awards 2018 will take place in London on 3rd October and representatives from the Joseph Ash Group will be there.
The Awards will be extra special this year, as it’s the 50th anniversary of the event!
The Awards received many submissions, which have been shortlisted to 22 projects, showcasing the flexibility and versatility of steel in a number of different and varying applications. The projects also represent a wide geographical spread.

Save the date for Tuesday 12 September 2017, when we’ll be hosting some Open Days at our Premier Galvanizing and Joseph Ash Galvanizing plants.
In conjunction with the Galvanizers Association we will be opening our doors to the public, to enable you to see the plants in action.
We’d love it if you could attend!
What you’ll see:
- See the hot dip galvanizing baths and watch how the steel is dipped into zinc in order to protect it from the elements, and prolong its life.
- Meet our team members and ask any questions you have about hot dip galvanizing and protecting steel.
- Our technical teams will also be on hand to offer advice about designing steel for galvanizing.
